Combination skin is a blend of oily and dry skin. The T-zone of the face (the forehead and the nose) remain oily while the cheeks are dry. This type of skin needs a dual treatment †the T-zone requires oily skin care while the cheek areas require dry skin care. Treating and taking care of combination skin is not an easy task. However, with proper care, it’s easy to survive with combination skin. One of the major concerns when treating combination skin is dealing with different areas of the skin individually with different skin care products. This is because if you treat your skin as oily skin, the dry areas will become drier and if you treat your skin like dry skin, the T zone will become all the more oilly. Here are some tips to care efficiently for combination skin: Cleanse Your T-Zone Use a mild foaming cleanser to cleanse your face and focus more on your T zone when you lather. Ideally, do this twice a day – once in the morning and once at night. Wash your face in warm water in the morning and cool water at night. If you feel your skin is getting oilier around noon, then wash your face with a cleanser. Here are some popular products picks: • Obagi Nu Derm Foaming Gel: An amazing blend of aloe vera, natural herbs and natural cleansers. It cleans the skin off all accumulated pollutants and removes excess oil residues without disturbing the natural moisture levels of the skin. It suits people with combination skin as it cleanses the skin without making it too dry. • iS Clinical Cleansing Complex: A unique cleansing gel that deep cleanses the skin and resurfaces it. It is also anti-acneic and controls the acne inflammations. Unlike other cleansers, it does not leave the skin extremely dry but makes it smooth and soft. • Obagi C-Cleansing Gel: It contains benefits of both a prescription strength hydroquinone as well as Vitamin C that cater to all the needs and requirements of your skin. It’s better to use two types of cleansers- a foaming facial cleanser in the morning and a creamier or oil based cleanser at night before going to bed. Don’t forget to rinse. More Toner on the T-Zone Always apply more toner on your T-zone than on your your cheeks and apply it on your T-zone first. The toner keeps the excess oiliness in check and at the same time maintains the pH level of the skin. one amazing toner is: Obagi Nu-Derm Toner †It is an amazing combination of natural ingredients and herbs along with a natural astringent called ‘alum’. It tones the skin, normalizes the pH balance and helps the active ingredients of the skin care products absorb efficiently into the skin surface. Not only this, it accelerates cellular turnover and boosts cellular function by penetrating deep inside the skin surface. Its therapeutic benefits include skin becoming smoother and wrinkle-free, visible reduction in pigmentation marks and age spots, improved skin structure, accelerated production of collagen and elastin fibers and increased natural hydration and circulation. Use Two Different Toners Another way to take care of combination skin is by applying two different types of toners on different zones- a stronger one on the T-zone and milder one on the dry areas. More Moisturizer on Dry Areas Just like you should apply more toner on you T-zone, make it a point to apply more moisturizer on the drier areas of your face like the cheeks and neck. You can also use a lightweight oil-free moisturizer for the former and a creamier one for the latter. The point is to provide more moisture to the dry areas. Try NeoCutis Bio-Restorative Skin Cream and NeoCutis Bio-restorative Hydrogel respectively. • NeoCutis Bio-restorative Skin Cream †It is one of its kind anti-aging moisturizer that contains PSP, a unique combination of human growth factors and cytokines that significantly reduces wrinkles and fine lines and heals sun damaged skin. Use this for your dry areas. • NeoCutis Bio-restorative Hydrogel †An amazing hydrating gel that contains PSP that moisturizes the skin without making it oily or greasy. Because of the gel base, it is perfect to be used on oily areas of the face like the T-zone. Bio-gel is an oil free anti-aging product and is ideal for oily skin.br

Caring For Combination Skin – Twice As Hard
Its Never To Late To Exfoliate Your Skin
Author: Ryan Cotebr
Source: isnare.combr
br
No matter what your age or skin type, regular exfoliation will improve how your skin looks and feels. Exfoliating deeply cleanses to remove the dead skin cells that clog your pores and make your skin look dull.
The upper layer of your skin, called the epidermis, naturally renews itself every 28 days. If you are between the ages of 15 and 25 years old, your skin renews itself every 20 days. As a result, dead skin cell are left behind that make your skin look lusterless. If you have dry skin, it tries to correct the moisture imbalance by making more natural oil and those oils combine with dry skin flakes to clog your pores. If you skin is oily, excess oil and toxins build on the surface to clog your pores.
Exposure to elements such as pollution and UV rays can also cause your pores to get clogged. Exfoliation removes the dead skin cells and allows your skin to breathe naturally for a healthier complexion.
To exfoliate, first use a gentle cleanser and astringent to remove all traces of surface oil and makeup and dry your face thoroughly with a soft towel made from natural fibers. Now you are ready to exfoliate. One way to do it is to apply an exfoliating scrub with gentle beads and, using your fingers, make circular motions for about three minutes. There are also special exfoliating sponges, clothes and loofahs to help remove dead skin cells.
Exfoliation can also be achieved by using a peel-off or clay mask, which is usually left on for about ten minutes. After the designated time has passed, rinse or peel off the exfoliating agent thoroughly, dry your skin completely and make sure to apply a moisturizer.
You should gently exfoliate your face twice a week to keep it glowing and fresh. However, do not exfoliate your skin more frequently because it can result in cracked skin and broken capillaries under the surface. You can even use natural ingredients to exfoliate your skin. Witch hazel makes an excellent astringent and a combination of honey and oatmeal can be used to exfoliate dead skin cells away.
No matter what your skin type or age, exfoliation will noticeably improve the appearance of your skin.br

Glycolic Acid – How Does It Benefit Your Skin?
Author: Marilynn Syrettbr

Glycolic acid is the most active and beneficial form of alpha hydroxy acid. A natural derivative of sugar cane, glycolic acid has amazing exfoliating properties and is used extensively in skin care products. Popular sources of glycolic acid include the citric acid of lemon, orange and grapefruit extracts.Skin Care Benefits of Glycolic AcidGlycolic acid acts as a natural exfoliator to the skin and scrapes dead skin cells. Moreover, it eliminates the bacteria within the skin pores and controls acne inflammations and blemishes. It also opens up the skin pores in order to improve the penetrating power of skin care products. In addition to all this, glycolic acid also helps to bring natural moisture to the surface of the skin.Working of Glycolic AcidGlycolic acid penetrates efficiently through the walls of the skin cells because of its small molecular size. When it enters the cell, it stimulates the formation of new collagen and triggers off the synthesis process of dermal glycosaminoglycans. This in turn plumps up the cells and causes reduction in wrinkles and fine lines. It also affects the keratin cells that lie at the bottom of the stratum corneum and cause them to lift and get separated. This is how it exfoliates the dead skin layers and separates it from the underlying skin and reveals fresh new cells from underneath. As a result, the skin becomes smooth and supple.Skin Care Products with Glycolic AcidUnlike other alpha hydroxy acids, glycolic acid works well in a complete skin care regimen. It is used extensively in a variety of skin care products like cleansers, moisturizers and other skin treatments. Glycolic acid rejuvenates the skin and keeps it refreshed and moisturized.Product SuggestionsLa Roche-Posay Biomedic LHA SerumIt is an amazing serum used to exfoliate the skin and to reduce fine lines, spots, and small scars. It can be used either as a pre amp; post peel treatment or as a toner or exfoliator. The serum also helps to control acne. It contains several exfoliating agents like glycolic acid that helps to prepare the skin for the LHA-PEEL and enhance peel results. It eliminates dead cells from the skins surface and corrects rough skin and brightens the skins complexion.iS Clinical Active SerumThis is a highly concentrated serum that improves the skin texture and pigmentation very efficiently. Being anti-acneic, it controls acne inflammations and blemishes and is a great choice for patients dealing with both aging skin and oily acneic skin.iS Clinical Poly-Vitamin SerumThis serum regenerates the skin, hydrates it and provides essential vitamins, bionutrients and antioxidants to improve many unwanted skin problems. It also increases the micro-circulation of the skin to fight free radicals and provide nutrients to compromised skin. It contains Sugar Cane (Glycolic acid), Bilberry, hyaluronate and green tea to hydrate and regenerate the skin.La Roche-Posay Biomedic Purifying CleanserIt is a mild Glycolic Cleanser that unclogs skin pores to remove make up and other environmental pollutants deep within the skin and helps improve tone and texture. It contains Glycolic acid for exfoliation, Tocopheryl acetate as a vitamin E antioxidant and PEG-30 glycerol cocoate as a conditioning agent. Results of Glycolic Acid ProductsThe results delivered by glycolic acid skin care products depend on two factors:Percentage of Glycolic Acid in the product andYour skin typeTips to Use Glycolic TreatmentsAlways do a patch test before starting any glycolic treatmentsDont forget to use sunscreen with SPF 15 or more. This is because AHA based skin care products make the skin highly sensitive towards sunlight.Pregnant women or women with highly sensitive skin should avoid these products.br

Skincare For Sensitive Skin – Tips For Outdoor Protection
Author: Ryan Cote -br
Source: articledashboard.combr
br
The skin is your bodys largest organ and there are approximately 19 million skin cells on every square inch of skin. More than half of women today have sensitive skin, which is easily irritated or reactive in a variety of situations. Skincare for sensitive skin helps your skin look its best during every season and all conditions.
First of all, you know you have sensitive skin if it is dry, delicate, easily damaged or irritated, has reduced tolerance to weather conditions and is subject to allergic reactions. Sometimes your skin may feel tight or tingly, reacts to physical stress such as shaving and appears red or irritated.
Skincare for sensitive skin requires using gentle cleansers and moisturizers that are free of perfumes, heavy oils and additives. Other precautions are to watch your intake of alcohol and rich or spicy foods, avoid extreme temperature changes and manage personal stress. All of these factors can take an unfortunate toll on the appearance of your skin.
Autumn is a season where we are all still outdoors and doing yard work, even though the weather is getting colder. Taking special care of sensitive skin is a must during this rather harsh season. Although the sun seems less intense, use a sunscreen all year round to protect your skin from the harmful UV rays that can be equally strong during other seasons.
If you are gardening, use gloves to protect the skin on your hands. As the cold weather comes in, our skin already loses essential moisture and gloves protect your hands from dryness, blistering and cracking.
Although the weather requires heaving clothing, beware of synthetic fabrics that do not breathe or clothing that is too tight and binding. Choose clothing that fits well with room to move around and that is made of natural fabrics that breathe, such as cotton or silk. Wool can also be a good choice unless you find it personally irritating to your skin. Also, make sure to remove those bothersome tags inside your clothes that can cause chafing on your skin.
Wearing a hat is an important way to protect your hair and skin from sun damage while keeping your head warm in the colder weather.
Although the insects are less prevalent and annoying in the fall, they still exist. The ability to wear long sleeves and trousers does help to keep them away. However, you can also spray your clothing with insect repellent to drive the bugs away without putting a potential irritant directly on your skin.
With a little extra skincare for your sensitive skin, you will glow and look healthy during any season of the year./pbr

Kappa Skin – Description and Maintenance
Author: Dainly Marksionbr
Source: ezinearticles.combr
br
a) Description: This type of skin is considered to be composed of the components of earth and water. If a person has this skin type his/her skin is thick, soft, oily and cool to feel. Ones skin complexion is a shimmering porcelain whitish color, similar to the moon, and hair normally thick, curly, oily and dark in color. These types of skin, with their connective tissue, are lucky to develop wrinkles after a long period in life.
b) Potential problems: If ones skin is in imbalanced state, it can turn up as enlarged pores, extremely oily skin, and damp types of eczema, acne, wrinkles, pimples and water retention. This type of skin is also prone to fungal contaminations.
Recommendations for taking care of this type of skin:
This type of skin is more prone to blockage and requires more purification as compared to other skin types. One should be careful to stay away from greasy, clogging creams. Similarly, one should avoid heavy, tough to digest foods such as fried foodstuffs, fatty meats, butter and desserts. One should eat lighter, simple to digest, bitter and strong (well-spiced) foodstuffs as they are good to this type of skin.
Olive oil is the most excellent cooking oil and a small amount of ginger in addition to lime juice can be taken previous to meals to augment ones characteristically lethargic digestive fire. One should take warm baths frequently and should make use of gentle cleansers to unlock the skin pores. One should avoid getting constipated and should attempt to get some work out every day to boost circulation and help cleanse the skin with the help of sweating process.
Happy, optimistic, affectionate, caring individuals possess an extraordinary beauty that is far more as compared to skin deep. On the other hand everyone experience the quick and harmful effect on his/her skin from exhaustion and stress. Inner beauty is considered to be the genuine beauty, not the type that shows on a fabricated face, but the type that shines all the way through ones soul, ones realization or inner state of being. Inner beauty arises from a mentality and heart that are in synchronization, not at odds with one another, resulting in emotional puzzlement, loss of self-confidence, stress and worry. Inner harmony is the base of outer beauty. One should remember that kindness, responsiveness and genuineness naturally attract people towards other people.

Be Aglow at Your Wedding: Start Caring for Your Skin Ahead of Time
Author: Joy Cagilbr
Source: articleage.combr
br
Brides come in all ages and planning a wedding can be exceedingly stressful on anybody, no matter what the age. If you, as the bride, have handled everything perfectly, those few days before the wedding could still take their toll on your health and especially on your skin.
On her wedding day, every bride wants to have her skin radiant and free from lines and pimples, so she looks her best, and her photos and videos come out looking perfect. No bride wants to even imagine the possibility that, one day, her offspring might gaze at their parents wedding photos and remark on the blemish over their mothers right nostril.
Telling a bride-to-be to avoid stress and to take things lightly is easier said than done; nevertheless, taking care of the skin, despite the stress and a busy schedule, is not only possible but it is a must.
* Start at least a month or two before the wedding date to personally care for your skin every day. If you are the outdoors type or your skin has been neglected for years, then begin much earlier, even before you hire the wedding planner or the photographer.
* If you suffer from acne, rosacea, or any other skin condition, make sure to see a dermatologist months before the wedding. There are wonderful medicated creams on the market available with prescription that can prevent acne or rosacea outbursts on your wedding day.
*Sun protection should have been your habit all along; however, if you have neglected that, it is never too late to start. If you have to be out under the sun, use wide brimmed hats, sunglasses, umbrellas, and especially sunscreen lotion. Even the smallest dose of UVA rays can take their toll on the human skin. The best use you can get from a sunscreen lotion is if you choose one with an SPF of 15-30 and apply it every few hours. After you apply the lotion, stay indoors or in the shade for a few minutes to let the skin absorb the lotion.
* Before you put the sunscreen on, fortify your skin with a vitamin C lotion. With some women, vitamin C softens the skin lines and helps the sunscreen protect the skin better.
*Exfoliate you skin often if your skin is rough. If your skin is very tender, keep the exfoliating to once a month. To exfoliate, first cleanse your skin with a facial cleanser, or if you like, lukewarm distilled water. Then, apply an exfoliating gel or cream and rub into the skin with small circular motions. Rinse with warm water and pat dry with a warm towel. Never use products or devices like washcloths, loofahs, or puff buffs on your face. They are known to gather bacteria easily.
* Hydration of the skin is easy and can be done with the most common materials. Add a few drops of oil to a bowl of steaming hot water. Johnsons baby oil will do just fine, unless you want to use one your favorite oils or herbal solutions. Lean over the bowl until your face is about 8-12 inches away. Cover your head with a towel to capture the steam and relax for 15 minutes. Do this every day if you can.
* If at all possible, about three months before the wedding date, see a dermatologist or add an over the counter retinoid (Vitamin A Cream) to your daily skin care, if you are not already using one. Do not go under the sun immediately after applying a retinoid; wait at least fifteen minutes to half an hour. The most feasible skin care method for busy working women is a retinoid to be applied at night. If you are susceptible to dark circles under the eyes, an undereye lotion with alpha-hydroxy acids could be added to your daily care.
* If your skin is excessively dry, adding aloe Vera lotion or gel-mask to your daily regimen will help greatly.
* Avoid aggressive and experimental treatments, tanning, and facial waxing, one to two weeks before the wedding.
* Try to eat a well-balanced diet with extra fruits, vegetables, and leafy greens. They will help your skin and your figure at the same diet.
Give your skin a chance, and have your family and friends watch its glow match the glow in your eyes on your wedding day.

Dead Skin Cells – Are They A Problem?
Author: Danny Siegenthalerbr

About Our Skin
The human skin is a complex organ. It consists of several layers, which are involved in a range of functions, from defence against external pathogens to temperature regulation. The skin is the largest organ of the human body and renews itself every 28 – 30 days.
In an earlier article, I provided a detailed description of the various functions of each of the layers that make up the skin, so I will not discuss these here. This article however, will look at the potential problems dead skin cells can cause if a proper skin care regime is not followed.
Skin Structure Review
The structure of the skin is basically divided into two general layers, the dermis (link to previous article) and the epidermis. The latter is divided further into 5 layers. The layer at the very surface of the skin is called the Stratum corneum, which consists mainly of dead skin cells.
Dead Skin Cells
The body sheds these dead skin cells of its own accord, however, exfoliation through the use of skin brushes, luffahs or exfoliant skin care products, helps to stimulate new cell growth and reduces build up of dead skin cells.
So, how do dead skin cells impact the skins health? As the dead skin cells build up on the surface of the skin, they have the potential to act as a barrier to absorption of nutrients from nourishing creams and lotions; they also have the potential to block sweat glands, which can result in white heads, black heads or acne.
Of course you do need a certain amount of dead skin cells to cover your skin, however, it does not need to be very thick to execute its function as a barrier. If the rate of skin cell production/death is higher than normal, as for example is psoriasis, the body is unable to shed old cells quickly enough for the new cells to replace them. As the new cells push their way to the surface of the skin, the old cells create a build up of dead skin, which appear as raised patches.
Under normal circumstances, every minute of the day we lose about 30,000 to 40,000 dead skin cells off the surface of our skin – thats about 4 kilograms per year of dead skin cells. In fact, much of the dust in a house is to a great extent comprised of our dead skin cells.
Effective regulation of dead skin cells
There are basically two reasons for using a daily skin care regime. The first is to keep the skin clean and the dead skin cell layer to a healthy minimum. The second reason is to provide the skin with nutrients and nourishment for optimum functionality.
As aforementioned, using a natural exfoliant skin care product is a great option to gently remove some of the dead skin cells and provide some nutrients at the same time. Following the exfoliation using a cleanser to remove deep-seated dirt and stale oils from skin pores and wrinkles is a necessary next step. This is not just to remove dirt etc., but also helps to keep microbes down, as many of the natural skin cleansers utilise essential oils, which are anti-septic in nature and thus help reduce the chance of skin infections.
Once the cleansing has been completed, it is time to close the pores of the skin to prevent dust and other environmental particles from entering the open pores. This is where a natural toning lotion is ideal. Being formulated to contain astringents and other nourishing ingredients, toners will prepare the skin for the final step – Moisturising.
Moisturising your skin is critical. Moisturisers provide essential nutrients for the skin and at the same time help the skin to retain moisture, preventing dehydration of the skin and acceleration of skin cell death.
Implementing a good daily skin care regime will not only help to remove excessive dead skin cells, but will provide the skin with moisture, nutrients and assist it in its defence against microbial infections.

Growing New Skin:the Use Of Exfoliants
Author: Barry Lyckabr
Source: articledashboard.combr
br
Out with the old, in with the new. Thats the job of an exfoliant: to remove old and dead skin, allowing new and healthier skin to resurface. Exfoliating is a great way to achieve radiant skin that is soft and smooth, like a babys bottom, because it allows the new skin to retain moisture, which also slows the aging process.
Although exfoliants can help your skin look amazing, if youre not careful, they can also damage skin that is sensitive, dry, or acne prone. Ingredients in exfoliants can contain fruit seeds, shells, botanical extracts and alpha hydroxyl acids. If you have sensitive skin, its best to find a product that has small granules so as not to break the skin. Other types of exfoliants are salt or sugar-based scrubs.
Here are the three most common ingredients in acid exfoliants:
1. Alpha hydroxy acids include Glycolic Acid (Origin:Sugar Cane), Lactic Acid (Milk), Tartaric Acid (Grapes), Citric Acid (Citrus Fruits), Malic Acid (Apples), and Mandelic Acid ( Almonds). These ingredients are good for treating dry skin, acne and sun spots, and improving skin texture, reducing fine lines, and increasing skin thickness. The most effective alpha hydroxy acid is glycolic acid because it increases cell exfoliation and replacement, and reduces surface oils.
2.Beta hydroxy acids are more effective in treating blemishes. Salicylic acid treats acne, dandruff, psoriasis, and dermatitis. This product is good for more sensitive skin.
3.Tretinoin (Vitamin A acid, Retin-A, Renova) treats acne and aging, sun damaged skin. This product can cause irritation within the first few days.
I recently tried an oil-free apricot scrub with salicylic acid (for blemish control). Although after using this product my skin was extremely soft and smooth, the next day my face really broke out despite the salicylic acid. I later discovered that many experts recommend that people with sensitive skin should not use scrubs with ground fruit pits. So I continue the search for the perfect scrub for my skin type.
Exfoliants dont necessarily have to be a facial or body scrub, they can also come in the form of cleansing accessories. The newest trend are the easy to use facial cleansing cloths that contain small fibers to gently exfoliate the face. Loofah sponges and exfoliation brushes in combination with your favorite cleanser also help exfoliate the skin. For rougher skin, such as the heels of your feet or elbows, an exfloliation brush is probably best.
Shoulsd everyone use a scrub? Well, that depends. If you have oily skin, yes. If you have sundamaged skin, yes. But individuals with sensitive skin might want to avoid it.

Acne Treatments For Dry Skin
Author: Thomas Middletonbr
Source: ezinearticles.combr
br
Unfortunately, one of the most common things that acne sufferers have in common is dry skin. It can be annoying and sometimes even painful, so you should know about all the different things you can do to start taking back control of your body so you will look and feel better than ever. This article will give you the tools to start improving the quality of your skin, so you wont have to keep trying different things that wont work, wasting both time and money.
One of the best tips I can offer anyone who struggles with dry skin and acne is to examine which type of skin cleanser they are currently using. If you dont seem to be getting results with the product you are using right now, then it may be time to switch. Some people cling to the same skin care product for months or even years because they believe its doing them some good because their condition isnt getting worse, but the fact is that it should also be getting better.
Also make sure that you are using plenty of moisturizers and creams. These help keep your skin hydrated and healthy, so stock up on these and use them as needed each day. Do not use them too much, as this could result in your acne worsening and breakouts becoming more frequent. The tricky part about treating acne is finding a nice balance between dry and moist skin. If the skin is too dry, cracking and discomfort occurs, and if there are too many oils in the pores of the skin, your acne could worsen.
Another helpful tip to clearing up your complexion and taking care of your dry skin is to drink as much water as possible. Water is a great way to flush out all of the toxins and bacteria from your system, as well as hydrating the body and skin.

Oily Skin Can Be An Annoying Problem ?
Author: Franchisbr
Source: articledashboard.combr
br
Does your skin have a tendency to shine excessively?
As a person with acne prone skin, I know that having oily skin can be an annoying problem. However, the good news is that this very same oil issue will help to give your complexion a nice, radiant appearance later in life . Another plus is that oily skin can better withstand wrinkles and sun damage compared to dry skin.
While oily skin may be able to resist many insults, it is never a good idea to mistreat your skin with harsh cleansers that strip away the moisture. Doing this will certainly leave your complexion with a dry, flaky appearance. Your skins natural oils are actually a good thing. Therefore, the best approach to oil is not to fight it, but to control it instead.
1. Gently cleanse without scrubbing.
Instead of harshly scrubbing your skin, try applying a cleanser with cold water. Using your fingertips only, softly work the lather onto your face using circular motions.
2. Dont forget the astringent.
It is very important to apply an astringent at least twice daily. Sea Breeze or Witch Hazel tends to work great for my skin.
3. Use an oil blocker.
There are great products on the market that will work well for excess oil absorption. You can either apply an oil blocking cream or buy some thin oil blotting sheets. Youll be surprised at how great these items work to keep the excess shine at bay.
4. Moisturize or not to moisturize?that is the question.
If your complexion is mildly oily, then you could probably use a skin moisturizer. However, if your skin is very oily, then chances are you dont need one.
5. Pick the right type of makeup.
Oil-free and water based products tend to work best for oily complexions.
Rest assured that by putting these tips to use that your skins oily appearance will be replaced with a nice, natural glow./pbr
