Easy Ways for Great Skin- Essential Tips to Keep Skin Healthy

Beautiful skin is no miracle. Like everything else, if you want it, you have got to work for it.
How do you keep your skin looking its best? I’m no skin expert, but having a skin spa as part of the salon and working with the city’s top dermatologists, I have put together these five easy steps to get and keep that healthy glow.
1) Don’t Skip the morning essentials: Would you leave the house naked? Your body wouldn’t react too well. But that’s exactly what you would be doing to your face if you leave home without cleansing, toning, moisturizing and protecting your skin every morning. Complete these steps in order and don’t omit any of them. Each one is only effective if used in tandem with the others.
Protection is the most important of all. Don’t leave home without a sun block. It helps slow down the aging process. Now isn’t that a big incentive?
2) Stick to a nightly routine: Haven’t you noticed how awful your skin looks after a bad night? That’s because the skin repairs itself while we sleep. Your body has the time and energy to repair damaged cells when it is resting and not expending energy defending cells from the sun, pollution etc. Also do not forget to cleanse, followed by a moisturizing routine, using a night cream.
PROTECTION IS FOREMOST. DON’T GO OUT WITHOUT A SUNBLOCK.
3) Treat your specific problems: Don’t try and cover up your problems because you can cure them. For acne, treatments include glycolic acid cleansers, creams and masks., which help exfoliate whiteheads and blackheads.
Long term use of retinol is also known to combat breakouts. The idea is to keep your skin and pores as clean as possible without drying up your skin.
For fry, flaky skin use a mild cleanser. Wash your face only when necessary, as water is drying and use a heavier moisturizer. A mild exfoliator once a week is a good idea. For oily skin, choose on oil-free range of products as even acne prone skin needs hydration.
Random Tip: Home Remedy for Oily Skin- Take 1/3 cup cocoa, three teaspoons of heavy cream, 1/3 cup ripe papaya, 1/4 cup cup honey and three teaspoons of oatmeal powder. Mix it all together. Apply on your face. After 10 minutes, wash your face with warm water. This is best for oily skin.

4) Clean up your insides: Your mama was right, you need to eat a nutritionally-balanced diet to provide your skin with the nutrients it requires to look its best. Eat plenty of raw vegetables, drink 8-10 glasses of water a day to hydrate the skin long before its time.
5) Stop the clock: We are all aware that staying out of the sun is a sure-fire way to prevent future damage such as fine lines, loss of elasticity and discoloration. But the question is, can anything undo the damage already done?
It is believed that blended antioxidants and vitamins may significantly repair long-term damage. So there is hope.
Besides, these four points here should also be of some help.
# Avoid tanning salons- they cause sun damage, premature aging and an increased risk of skin cancer.
# Visit your dermatologist annually- to detect and treat any abnormalities in your skin such as moles or freckles etc.
# Avoid the sun while taking antibiotics- many medications can make you extra sensitive to the sun
# And again, don’t forget the sunscreen.
Beautiful skin doesn’t just happen. You have to work at it but at the end of the day- You’ re worth it.

Random Tip: As they say, whenever in doubt wear Black. Likewise, whenever in doubt related to your make-up, apply a basic kaajal pencil, a mascara and a lip-gloss. It would just compliment you so very well.

Oily Skin Treatment – 7 Steps to Eliminate the Shine

Author: Jacqui Alariebr

Are you plagued with oily skin? Do you feel you will never eliminate that annoying shine? Oily skin looks greasy and may even appear dirty. And its not just the unsightly glow thats troublesome. Oily skin is prone to blackheads, whiteheads, and pimples. You can count on it… the ugliest zit will pop up exactly when you least want it to!

What causes the never-ending flow of oil?

Over-active sebaceous glands are responsible for your extra shiny skin. These glands produce oil throughout life. But at times they are super busy… producing way too much oil! Excessive sebum (the technical term for skin oil) is a particular problem during the teenage years. Yet oily skin can last well into young adulthood and beyond.

The fact is, some people are simply prone to oily skin. The tendency towards oily skin is considered genetic. It may also be due to hormones. Those wild hormones that run rampant during the teen years kick oil-producing glands into overdrive! Almost everyones skin is oily at this age.

Actually, some sebum is necessary and beneficial. Its your skins natural lubricant, carrying dead cells to the surface. Yet when too much sebum is produced, an imbalance occurs. This lays the foundation for problem skin. Excess oil on the skins surface is a magnet for dirt and grime. The dirt in turn causes pores to clog… and this leads to blemishes.

A cycle of disaster for your skin!

What to do? Follow the simple suggestions below to keep oil under control…

Oily Skin Treatment

Prevention is the first line of defense. Taking steps to keep your pores from clogging is the best protection against blackheads and acne.

The basic rule is to keep your skin clean. This is essential!

* Wash your face morning and night. To preserve needed moisture, use a gentle, natural soap or cleanser and warm water. Forget hot water and cold splashes. They are unnecessary and actually shock the skin. Gentle care, for all skin types, is best.
* Follow cleansing with an astringent or toner. This will tighten and close pores… leaving skin with a smooth, even appearance. Any trace of dirt or cleanser will also be removed.
* Use facial blotting papers to soak up midday shine. Press along the all important T-Zone… the forehead, nose, and chin.
* Always remove make-up before you go to bed…no matter how tired you are! It only takes a minute or two and will help prevent dirt buildup and clogged pores.
* Choose water-based cosmetics. Oily products can aggravate oily skin and lead to blemishes.
* Eat a healthy, balanced diet. Include plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Reduce, or eliminate, sugar and processed foods. The foods you eat are reflected in the appearance of your skin.
* Take time to relax and have fun. While everyone should follow this advice, theres a definite correlation between stress and acne

Find Out Everything About Oily Skin – 1

Shine over the face, which indicates excess skin oil, is a real cosmetic problem. Those who have oily skin, also develop more of acne. Skin oil is made of sebum, which is produced by sebaceous glands. Excess sebum causes oily skin. The skin is covered with acid mantle.

Acid mantle is a mixture of secretions of the skin on the surface of the skin. Sweat and sebum form the acid mantle. The normal skin pH is 4 to 5.5, so it is acidic. This mixture, which is acidic, is called acid mantle. The acid mantle protects the skin from bacteria. Bacteria get killed by the acid and cannot damage the skin. If you strip the skin of its acidic mantle by using strong alkaline soaps/cleansers, bacteria will find it easy to attack the skin. Moreover removing the acid mantle disturbs the distribution of dead cells on top of epidermis. This is called stratum corneum. The structure of cells in the dead skin cells layer gets disturbed and the bacteria find an easy passage through to the epidermis. Normally these dead cells protect the skin against such damages. The skin is a miracle. These dead cells if allowed to accumulate will make the skin look very bad, but if totally removed, the skin is left defenseless to an extent. We have to arrive at a fine balance in maintenance of the skin.

Sebum plays an important role in making skin oily. The sebum is produced by sebaceous glands. Those who have oily skin, need to address two concerns-

How to remove excess oil from the skin?
How to keep the acid mantle healthy?

Let us first know more about sebum. Sebum is produced by sebaceous glands. These glands are found on most parts of the body. Except few, most sebaceous glands open into a hair follicle. Sebum production decreases with age. Particularly in women, it reduces after menopause. Adult females produce less sebum than men. In men, sebum production may experience jump at the time of puberty. Increased sebum production can cause acne.

There are some common theories about sebum. Some people believe that drying excess sebum with blotting oils will reduce sebum production. Some believe that if you use products designed to control oil production that will increase sebum production. Both are wrong conclusions. Drying excess oil will only remove surface oil. And using oil control products will not increase sebum production. In the next article we will find out about methods of oil reduction and skin care.

Mineral Cosmetic FAQs

When youre deciding whether or not to use mineral cosmetics you probably have a lot of questions. After all the hype, youre left wondering Are they really that good? Sure, there are lots of positive things being said about mineral makeup right now, but before you invest in it you should make sure all your questions are answered.

These are common questions people ask before choosing to buying any mineral cosmetic brand.

Is it waterproof?

No, it is not. It is water resistant. This means that mineral cosmetics hold up well in moisture. Whether you get damp from sweating or being in the rain, your mineral makeup should hold up. Simply dab the excess water off, instead of rubbing it off.

Is it hard to remove?

No, it isnt hard to remove. Using any type of facial cleanser, cold cream, eye makeup remover, etc.- even soap and water- will remove it very effectively.

How can it last all day and still be easy to remove?

The basic properties of mineral makeup (titanium dioxide and iron oxides) have great adhesion properties. This means they bind well to the skin. There are no oils or waxes, which helps them to stay on longer. Finally, each ingredient is water- soluble. This makes them easy to remove, and is why they are not waterproof.

Does it really look natural?

Yes. It wont leave that tell-tale mask on your skin like a liquid foundation. Plus you can easily mix colors to give yourself the best match to your natural skin, which helps it look better.

What makes it matte?

A matte mineral cosmetic will not have any mica in it. Mica adds the sparkle, shimmer, interference, etc. Some micas even give makeup more depth so that it is more compatible to different skintones. Without it, the mineral cosmetic can look really flat, like paint.

Isnt serecite a mica?

Yes, it is colorless mica. It adds a little more slip to the makeup, giving it a silkier feel. It has a very low shimmer to it and it becomes unnoticeable when mixed into the makeup.

Will it clog my pores?

No it wont. It is considered non-comedogenic and safe for women with sensitive skin. IT is lacking the oils and parabens associated with clogged pores.

Will it affect my acne?

It shouldnt. Most mineral cosmetic brands are non-acnegenic, which means they wont irritate acne-prone skin. In fact, many women with acne that use mineral makeup see their faces clear up after using it consistently for awhile. Those that do have trouble can usually attribute it to the buffing, cornstarch/rice powder (which is a food product for bacteria), or bismuth oxychloride. Finding a brand free of these ingredients will ensure the best possible chance of not irritating your acne.

Is it ok for oily/dry skin?

It is highly recommended for oily skin because of its intrinsic oil-absorbing properties. It tends to work very well on oily skin. Dry skin can be more problematic because of all those drying ingredients. However, there are formulations out there specifically for dry skin, so those will probably work best.

Which brand is the best?

Choosing a mineral cosmetic company depends on what you are looking for. Many women focus on ingredients, color selection, quantity vs. price and customer service. You know what you want, so the best idea is to base your choice on your priorities.

Are Ebay brands good?

This is a bit tricky. Yes and no. Some are and some arent. Unfortunately, many people selling on Ebay under their own brand are simply resellers of someone elses wholesale brand. Its called a private label. They buy someone elses products at a reduced price because theyre buying in bulk and put their stickers on it. The problem with this is that they dont know anything about the ingredients or how to help their customers make an appropriate match. But there are also some reputable sellers on Ebay. Buying off Ebay depends solely on your personal preference.

Now you have the information to decide if mineral makeup is for you and how to pick a brand that will meet your needs.br

Choosing The Best Products For A Mans Skin

Author: Deidra Garciabr
Source: articledashboard.combr
br
It seems like hundreds of skincare and grooming products are available to men these days and more are being added all the time. But how many of them include high-performance ingredients? How many of them provide effective results? And which ones are really necessary to maintain great-looking skin with a minimum amount of effort?

How to classify your skin type:

The first step to finding the right products for you is deciding what type of skin type you have. Most products target several individual skin types: oily skin, dry skin, sensitive skin, acne-prone skin and combination skin.

Oily skin: Feels slightly greasy or slick to the touch, with larger pores. It is usually more prone to blackheads and whiteheads. Look for products that are ultralight and oil-free, and exfoliating items that will remove oil and dirt.

Dry skin: Often feels tight and itchy and is more prone to irritations. Look for products that contain hydrating ingredients like Aloe, Urea and Allantoin, and pay special attention to moisturizers. Keep in mind that moisture is not the same thing as oil, so you dont need heavy, oily products to achieve good levels of hydration for your skin.

Sensitive skin: Easily irritated by skincare or shaving products or extreme weather conditions. Look for products that do not contain dyes, fragrances or irritants and are specially formulated for sensitive skin.

Normal skin: If havent had any reoccurring skin problems such as shininess, acne or irritated skin, you probably have normal skin. Unless a product states otherwise, most skincare items can be used by men with normal skin.

Combination skin: Most men fall into this category, having dry patches and oily patches on their face at the same time (oily patches often fall in the T-Zone: your forehead and down your nose to your chin). Look for products that gently clean skin without harsh abrasives and moisturizers that are ultralight.

Acne-prone skin: Can partner with oily skin, but is also a factor with people with dry skin. This type tends to break out frequently with pimples, blackheads or whiteheads. Look for products that are noncomedgenic (not pore-clogging) and contain ingredients like benzoyl peroxide.

How to identify effective skincare products for men:

Once youve zeroed in on what type of skin you have, concentrate on finding products that appeal to that type, or products recommended for all skin types. Easier said then done, right? Theres still a sea of products out there. How can you decide which you need and which ones are nothing more than fancy packaging?

A good idea is to start with a very basic skin care routine that involves four steps: Cleaning, Exfoliating, Shaving, and Moisturizing. That means you should look for a gentle liquid cleanser for your face, an exfoliating scrub, a shaving product, an aftershave product and an oil-free moisturizer. If you start with these basic items, you cant really go wrong.

How to buy mens skincare products:

Now that youve further narrowed down what types of products you should be using, heres some tips for when you decide to purchase:

• Although its often a difficult task, dont be fooled by fancy packaging or high prices; concentrate on products that contain natural ingredients and dont contain dyes or irritants.

• Items can get pricey, but the most expensive product is not always the best one. Likewise, dont sell yourself short with products offered at bottom prices.

• Always read labels to find out how a product should be used, how much should be used and how frequently.

Once youve chosen your basic products, consider including items that target other specific problems as well. For example, every guy should own a reliable, broad-spectrum protection sunscreen. If you are interested in products targeted towards reducing wrinkles and diminishing lines on the face and around eyes, look for specific items that do just that.

Most importantly, dont be afraid to try new products or alter your skincare routine. After all, you are the best judge of what makes your skin feel good and look great. Keep in mind that most products need at the very least a week to begin working, so dont be too quick to switch products if youre not getting results right away./pbr

Oily Skin Can Be An Annoying Problem ?

Does your skin have a tendency to shine excessively?

As a person with acne prone skin, I know that having oily skin can be an annoying problem. However, the good news is that this very same oil issue will help to give your complexion a nice, radiant appearance later in life . Another plus is that oily skin can better withstand wrinkles and sun damage compared to dry skin.

While oily skin may be able to resist many insults, it is never a good idea to mistreat your skin with harsh cleansers that strip away the moisture. Doing this will certainly leave your complexion with a dry, flaky appearance. Your skins natural oils are actually a good thing. Therefore, the best approach to oil is not to fight it, but to control it instead.

1. Gently cleanse without scrubbing.

Instead of harshly scrubbing your skin, try applying a cleanser with cold water. Using your fingertips only, softly work the lather onto your face using circular motions.

2. Dont forget the astringent.

It is very important to apply an astringent at least twice daily. Sea Breeze or Witch Hazel tends to work great for my skin.

3. Use an oil blocker.

There are great products on the market that will work well for excess oil absorption. You can either apply an oil blocking cream or buy some thin oil blotting sheets. Youll be surprised at how great these items work to keep the excess shine at bay.

4. Moisturize or not to moisturize—that is the question.

If your complexion is mildly oily, then you could probably use a skin moisturizer. However, if your skin is very oily, then chances are you dont need one.

5. Pick the right type of makeup.

Oil-free and water based products tend to work best for oily complexions.

Rest assured that by putting these tips to use that your skins oily appearance will be replaced with a nice, natural glow./pbr

5 Tips For Acne Treatment

Author: John Manci
Source: isnare.com

Acne is a problem that very few people really understand. Doctors and specialists alike are baffled as to why it strikes some more than others. An acne pimple is formed when a pore collapses. This blocks the sebum from escaping out of this pores as it would normally. Acne is more likely to be caused by hormones, vitamin deficiency, a poor diet or stress. A lot of time and money has been spent researching a cure and prevention from the onslaught of acne and as such there are numerous cures on the shelves that acne sufferers may want to consider using.

1- A bad diet is proven to cause acne, so sticking to a well balanced diet will certainly help clear up or prevent acne. Garlic and onions can be particularly helpful because these contain sulphur. Drinking lots of purified water can also be very effective, rehydrating the skin and improving your glands.

2- As well as a healthy diet and lots of water there are also vitamin and nutritional supplements you can take that will also assist in beating acne. Vitamins A, C and E are particularly helpful and combining these with zinc orotate is sure to have an effect.

3- Be careful about which moisturizers and cleaners you use on your skin. If you already suffer from acne this is especially important. Choose a mild cleanser and apply it twice a day to the acne infected areas. There are several specialist cleansers ideally suited to this task.

4- Be careful what you are subjecting your skin to. Perfumes, moisturizers and even some soap can flare up a reaction from your acne. Make sure you select products that are suited to your skin type and don’t overdo the amount you use. Washing your face too often can actually irritate your acne and you should only do so twice a day.

5- Tempting though it may be you should try to avoid squeezing and picking. This can result in open sores that can easily become infected. By picking acne there is a good chance you will make it last longer. Ordinarily you can expect an acne pimple to last a week or more.
